Brinley Southwick

WOW!!! Where did the summer go?? Being 8 months pregnant during the summer sure made it seem long... however, looking back on the summer it seems to have gone in the blink of an eye.

Trevor and I welcomed to our family Brinley Southwick on August 21. Bringing her into the world was one of the greatest experiences of our lives. We have loved having her here with us, and cannot believe that she has been with us for 2 weeks already! The time sure is flying by very quickly, and I want it to slow down! I wanted to document her birth story before I forget it. This is one very very long post, so please feel free to skip it! But I had to document every second of this awesome experience.

On Monday, August 20 around 3am I woke up to some very very strong contractions. I had been having Braxten Hicks for awhile now and I knew that these contractions were very different. They just felt a lot different than the Braxten Hicks I had been having. I woke up Trevor to inform him that I was having contractions and he immediately began timing them for me (he was so cute and sweet through all of this!). My contractions were about 10 min apart, but never stopped from when they started at 3am. Trevor kept asking me if I wanted to go to the hospital, but I knew they weren't close enough together yet. Also, I had just recently gotten a new job and was starting that in the morning. I didn't want to miss my first day at my new job. Well morning finally came, with ZERO sleep for the both of us and I was off to my new job.

During the entire day, Monday, at work I was constantly having contractions and they were only getting closer together. However, I wanted to make it the entire day at work. I was timing my contractions the entire time I was at work and they were slowly getting closer together. At around 6:30pm my contractions were about 5 min apart and hurting me very bad. Sadly I was not able to last the entire day at work, however; I made it with only 30 min left. I left work and quickly called Trevor to tell him it was time to head up to the hospital. He left work and we met at home to grab a few things and then head up to the hospital.

We arrived at the hospital at around 7:30pm. They monitored me for about 20 min, asked me tons of questions, told me I was dialated to a 1 1/2, and then sent me back home. They stated I was not in active labor, I was in pre-labor and that this could go on for a couple more days before I reached active labor. I was super sad, mad, and really upset because they were sending me home.

Once we were back at home the contractions did not stop. They only continued to get worse and I knew I was in for a long night because I could not sleep through these contractions. While at home my contractions became so intense that I was having a difficult time breathing and my body was beginning to shake uncontrollably because of the pain. I could see on Trevor's face that it was killing him to see me in so much pain, and he tried to convince me multiple times that it was time to head back up to the hospital. I did not want to go back up to the hospital though because I was just there and I didn't want to be sent home again. At around 3:30am and after no sleep for now 24 hours, we decided it was time to head back up to the hospital. I was very hesitant and nervous about this but my contractions were now 2 min apart and I knew I needed to head back up. Once we arrived at the hospital I explained to them that I was there earlier and had been sent home, but I really thought I was in labor. The nurses at the hospital all looked at me very hesitantly but decided to at least humor me. They again monitored me, and asked me all the exact same questions again. They then checked me and I was dialated now to a 5!!! I don't think I could had been told any greater news than that at that moment! I was not going to be sent home and we were finally having this wonderful, precious baby!

Right after being admitted. Please excuse the way we look in this picture. We had been awake for over 24 hours straight!

After being admitted into the hospital I received my epidural. What a great thing those are!! Right after receiving my epidural I immediately felt so much better. Trevor also felt better and was a lot more relaxed because his wife finally was relaxed and no longer in pain. Trevor was so cute, sweet, and awesome through this entire process. I am so glad that he was there for me through it all and was trying everything he could to help me out. After a few hours of waiting around and only 30 min of pushing, we welcomed Brinley Southwick into our family at 11:00am exactly! She weighted 6lbs. 11 oz. and couldn't be more beautiful!

Minutes after she was born

We were in the hospital for 2 days and loved that a lot of our family was able to come up and see us during the exciting time in our life. We feel so blessed to be able to have this little girl and love her more than anything! It was such a wonderful, special, and sweet experience to welcome this little girl and I am so happy that I was able to experience it with Trevor. It is something we will both remember for the rest of our lives!

One very very VERY proud Daddy! I love these two so so much!

Latest Baby Update

Well it is time for another baby update. I am currently about 32 weeks along right now. It is crazy to me to think that it is getting so close for this little girl of ours to get here. However, I couldn't be more excited and more ready for her to get here. Although I have enjoyed being pregnant and being able to feel every move this child makes, I am more than ready to meet her, see her little face, hold her, and kiss her big chubby cheeks. (Yes she does have some chubby cheeks. On our last 4-D ultrasound Trevor just laughed and laughed at how big they were. I was born with really chubby cheeks, so I think she gets that from her mommy!)

Although pregnancy has been wonderful I am starting to become more and more uncomfortable as time goes on. And it is also really really hot all of the time! Haha I think its a blessing that I work inside, so I don't have to suffer through alot of the heat. A few things that are becoming more uncomfortable is my feet and my left hip. My feet start to hurt and get alot more tired than I remember ever getting before. Trevor tells me that I can't complain about my feet hurting all the time until I stop wearing heels to work and when we are out around the town together. I just tell him though that I have no other shoes to wear to work and such and so I have to. Haha Also, my hip has been starting to hurt alot! This is not something I am used to at all, however my doctor told me that it is something he is not concerned about because it can happen as I get closer and closer to her getting here.

Brinley is growing very big and is developing perfectly the doctor says. I am now going to the doctor every 2 weeks, and know that my weekly appointments will be here before I know it. I went to the doctor on Tuesday and we were able to see her again! I love it when I go to the doctor and get to see her cute little face and hear how much she has grown. At our last appointment she weighed 4 pounds. She gained 1 whole pound is just 2 short weeks. However, this explained why my stomach seems to be growing so big so quickly!

In this picture I am around 29 weeks

These are the most recent pictures of me. These were taken on Sunday.
I am around 32 weeks

This is my cute Hubby! He wanted his picture taken too!
Her room is also coming along very nicely as well. There are still a few things that I am needing to get done to have it completely ready for when she comes. It has been so fun getting her room ready and put together for her. I still need to take some more recent pictures of her room. The ones I currently have are about a month old and do not have alot of the finished things in them.

Like I said these pictures are pretty old, and do not resemble what her room looks like at the moment. So I will have to get some more updated pictures posted but this shows a little bit of a preview of how it looks. Well we have just under 2 months until she will be here and it cannot come fast enough. Trevor and I are both really ready for her to be here and to meet her. We know that our lives are going to change drastically once she gets here, but we couldn't be more excited for the new adventures that lay ahead of us! We already love this little girl so much and Aug 28 cannot come fast enough!

Baby Update

Well its been awhile since I have given an update on the pregnancy. As of yesterday I am officially 24 weeks along. This puts me at right about 6 months along. Ever since I got out of my first trimester I have Loved every single second of being pregnant! I love seeing my tummy grow knowing our little girl is in there growing bigger and stronger every single day. I also love feeling her move around! I always thought I would think it would be weird to feel something moving around inside of me. However, it is the best feeling ever knowing she is in there moving around. Trevor finally was able to feel her move just the other night. It was the best thing to see his face light up and get all excited knowing he had finally felt her move. Trevor has been so cute through this entire process of being pregnant. I can't wait to until she is here to see Trevor with her. He already loves to spoil her and she has him wrapped around her little finger.

This was taken in St. George so I am about 22 weeks in this picture.
The day after we got back from St. George Trevor and I were able to go to our targeted ultrasound where they checked her out to make sure she was growing and developing properly. We were both very nervous for this appointment and were just hoping that everything would be ok with her. We were very happy to find out that she is growing and devloping exactly the way she should be. The technician said that everything looked perfect and she is growing right on track. She weight 1 lb. 3oz. Its amazing to us how fast she grows from one appointment to the next. My doctor told me that we are on track to have about a 7lb 6oz. baby. It was really fun to see her in the ultrasound and be able to see all her little features. It was also fun to see that she already growing some hair on her little head.

To say that I am obsessed with buying things for this little girl, mostly clothes would be an under-statement. I try to convince Trevor that we need more clothes for her but she is not buying it. I just love buying things for her and getting things ready for her little arrival. However, Trevor has finally convinced me that I need to stop buying clothes for her for at least a little bit, or at least until fall clothes come out since she won't be wearing summer clothes for only about a month (if that). We have had fun getting her room all put together. I haven't started decorating it or anything and don't have any bedding for her crib yet because I am still in the process of looking. But here is a sneek peak of her room so far. Its pretty boring right now... but its slowly coming along.

Trevor or I cannot wait for her to get here and we are constantly talking about her. Everyone keeps telling me that the time will go by fast, however August still seems so far away! We both can't wait to meet her but know August is eventually going to get here!!

It's A...

Trevor and I are so very very happy and anxious for the upcoming events in our lives. On Christmas day we were so happy to find out that we will be adding a little one to our family! We had both been hoping and praying for this moment for a long time, and were so happy to find out that it was all happening.

The first 3 months of the pregnancy were very hard. I was very sick every single day. I didn't suffer from morning sickness though, I usually would get sick at night. So I guess you could say I had night sickness. With me and Trevor being at work and school during the day our nights were to say very uneventful these past 3 months. However, my amazing husband was so nice to take care of me and put up with all of my complaining and sicknesses. Not only did he take care of me, go to school full time, and work full time he also took care of the house chores and made himself dinner for 3 months. It was a long 3 months for the both of us, and we are so happy the first trimester is over!

I am due August 28 and am about 16 weeks along right now! I have just barely started to show. I have just a tiny belly, which most people don't even notice right now. Although I sure have been noticing for awhile now.

Well last Thursday we found out what we will be welcoming into our little family. We will be having...

We are both very excited and anxious for this little girl to get here!! Knowing what we are having is starting to make this pregnancy seem even more real. We are both excited we get to start preparing and getting things for our little girl! I tease Trevor all the time because of how excited he already is. He has already started spoiling this little girl, and she is not even here yet. I tell him all the time that the moment the doctor said it was a girl, she had her daddy wrapped around her little finger (and that is more true than anything)! Although I like to tease Trevor its so cute to see him talk about her, prepare for her, and think about her being here. I wouldn't want it any other way! I am so happy about how excited he is for our little girl!! I can already tell that he is going to be a great father to her!
